The Maryland Terrapins are one of the early favorites to win the National Championship this upcoming season. Mark Turgeon has done a great job of getting the program back towards the top of the college basketball landscape and doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Consensus top five 2016 recruit Josh Jackson is currently in the process of figuring out which school he wants to play for and reportedly said he could envision himself going to Maryland, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv.
Jackson has Maryland in his top four schools along with Arizona, Kansas and Michigan State. Jackson is a native of Detroit, Mich., but there are differing opinions on which school he will ultimately choose to play for. 247 Sports thinks that the favorite to land Jackson as of right now is Arizona with Kansas not too far behind.
Jackson has said that before he makes his decision he wants to visit all of the schools, but he made these comments about Maryland when he was there for an unofficial visit earlier this week.
Jackson is a 6-foot-7 small forward that is consistently ranked in the top three of all of the recruiting rankings but is ranked as the second best small forward and the third best player overall, according to ESPN. There are some outlets that have Jackson as the top 2016 recruit, but regardless, the five-star forward is one of the best players in his class and will be an immediate difference maker more than likely.
Jackson is a tremendous athlete who has triple double capabilities and could be a great defender. Jackson needs to work on his outside shooting and free throw shooting as he gets into college, but he has all of the tools to become a dominating college basketball player that effects the game in so many different ways. Jackson can see himself at Maryland and that's great news for Terps fans but whoever is lucky enough to get a commitment from Jackson will become a much better team immiediately.
