Brandon Lloyd Rumors: Uninterested In 49ers, Jets, Patriots & 3 Other Teams; Unlikely To Play In 2013

Free agent receiver Brandon Lloyd reportedly turned down at least six NFL teams, including the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots, which expressed interest in signing him. It appears Lloyd has no interest in playing this season, Pro Football Talk reports.

The 49ers, Patriots and Jets are among at least six clubs that have contacted Lloyd over the offseason.

Lloyd finished the 2012 season for New England with 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns. Despite the productive season and the interest expressed in him, the 10-year veteran seems uninterested in returning this year to the NFL.

"Lloyd has no interest in playing, taking the position that he's neither physically nor mentally ready to continue," Mike Florio of PFT wrote on Wednesday.

Lloyd was a fourth round draft pick by the 49ers in 2003. He had stints in Washington, Chicago, Denver, St. Louis and New England. His most successful season came in 2010 when he caught 77 passes for a league-leading 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns.

In his career, he has 385 receptions for 5,695 yards and 35 touchdowns.

There's been no mention of retirement from Lloyd's camp, but it's uncertain if the receiver plans on ever playing again. Lloyd is one of the more coveted free agent receivers and would make a minimum salary of $940,000 for one season of work.
