The series premiere full episode sneak peek of the NBC remake of Ironside brought the drama and the Blair Underwood bravado that was advertised. Some of our older readers may remember the 1960s-1970s series, meaning the storyline displayed in the season premiere wasn’t much of a shock to you. However, since there are younger readers (and since I’m on the younger side myself) here are three things I enjoyed about the “Ironside” series premiere:
No. 1—A pretty bad dude:
Yes, Blair Underwood plays Robert Ironside, and he’s a pretty bad dude. In the span of 45 minutes, he makes a complete fool out of a kidnapper while in a backseat of a car, takes out a suspect with a truck door, and commands one of his detectives to shoot a hostage in the knee just to save the hostage’s life. I’m starting to like this Ironside guy.
No. 2—Potentially hidden storylines
Although Ironside is the main story, there seems to be possible storylines for his team. Holly’s (Spencer Grammer) secret meeting with what may have been a mob boss could hint at ties to her past. Teddy (Neal Bledsoe) is a former investment banker who’s now a cop. Also, he won’t really explain why he made such a dramatic profession change. There has to be a story there.
No. 3—A bit of romance
It’s nice to have a bit of romance in the show as Ironside dates the marathon trainer. It adds the right amount of drama to a show that should carry mostly suspense and catching bad guys.
The series premiere of “Ironside” officially airs Wednesday, Oct. 2 on NBC.
