Charli XCX and Bleachers have been on a co-headlining tour called "Charli and Jack Do America" over the past year, but Charli and Jack Antonoff have announced that they have cancelled the upcoming second leg of the tour.
"I have some bad news," Charli XCX started off in a Facebook post. "Regrettably, I will not be continuing my spot on the 'Charli and Jack Do America Tour' this coming autumn. For personal reasons I will not be able to continue this tour. These personal reasons include the fact that I need to be creative."
She went on to explain that she has been on this tour for a long time now, and it "feels like an eternity." "I am struggling to create whilst I'm on the road and that is making me unhappy," she added.
The 23-year-old "Boom Clap" singer continued on, explaining that she has been struggling when it comes to trying to do the tour and write new songs, and she just needs to do this for herself. "I never want to do a show where I just feel like I'm going through the motions," she said. "I want to perform and feel alive and like I want to be there and if I force myself to do this, I will not perform a great show for you." She then said how great of a time she's been having with Bleachers and apologized to all her fans for letting them down, but hopes that they understand that she is at least being honest with them.
Antonoff then posted a lengthy statement to Bleachers' official Facebook, in which he explained the situation in more detail, making sure his fans know just how much he loves and respects Charli. He then explained exactly how he found out that Charli could not continue. "I need you guys to have the truthful and unfiltered version of what happened because cancelling shows is something I do not do unless I physically can't walk on the stage," he wrote. "I know how important these shows are to you guys-they mean everything to me. I wish there was something here that made more sense to all of us." He then said how the decision is out of his hands, but he will make sure something like this never happens in the future.
The second leg of the tour would have had ten shows, according to Rolling Stone. It was supposed to kick off on Sept. 14 in Boston, and although the two had not made this official announcement until now, Charli had hinted at this before. When the first leg of the tour wrapped up, Charli tweeted, "Goodbye tour. Goodbye America. Goodbye world."
