Slash and Axl Rose have patched things up after not speaking to each other since 1996. The distant relationship between the two began after Slash left Guns N' Roses almost two decades ago.
Slash was promoting the Marshall London phone in Sweden while he jammed with the Swedish rock band, Graveyard. During an interview, an Aftonbladet TV reporter mentioned to Slash that, "I've heard that you've made friends with Axl Rose again." Slash affirmed the comment, saying, "It was probably way overdue, you know. But it's...you know, it's very cool at this point. You know, let some of that, sort of, negative ... dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long," according to Loudwire.
The reporter asked afterwards whether fans will be seeing Guns N' Roses perform together again, to which Slash, who did not seem so eager about the topic at hand, answered, "Oh, I couldn't answer that one, though. All right, let's get off the subject, 'cause, you know, that's an old one."
"[Axl] hates my guts," Slash stated in 2012. "It's over a lot of different stuff; I don't even know. There's just no communication between us. I talk to Duff [McKagan] and Steven [Adler], but when it comes to old Guns N' Roses, there really isn't anybody that makes decisions," Rolling Stone reported.
Slash and Axl becoming friends again doesn't immediately mean there is a reunion happening in the near future. In 2012, when the band was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rose did not attend the ceremony. He wrote a letter that says, "So let sleeping dogs lie or lying dogs sleep or whatever. Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn't owe you your own personal happy ending especially at another's, or in this case, several others', expense," he wrote. He added, "with the exception of Izzy [Stradlin] or Duff joining us on stage if they were so inclined somewhere in the future for a song or two, that's enough."
Guns N' Roses has a spot open now for a guitarist after DJ Ashba left to focus on Sixx:A.M. Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was rumored to have left the band last year. There is no news on whether these positions will be filled in anytime soon, Ultimate Classic Rock reported.
