The Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue is comprised of a team of people that are working together to ensure the safety of dogs who are at risk in high-kill shelters.
"Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue started with one person, fostering one dog, in a 1-bedroom apartment," founder Sara Cross said, according to Upworthy. "Once you start, it's very hard to stop because the deluge of dogs about to be killed for no other reason than overpopulation is just never-ending and completely overwhelming."
Primarily, Cross was the only one operating the Badass Brooklyn on a case-to-case basis. But after four years, she realized that more than 1,400 dogs that are lined to be euthanized were already rescued.
"When I started seeing the dogs that I had saved living great lives, it made me feel a sense of empowerment that nothing else has given me," she said, adding that she hopes dog euthanasia will no longer be a problem.
"People say when you save a dog's life, it's not saving the whole world, but it's changing the whole world for that dog," Cross said.
