Apple has replaced the existing black color for the iPod Touch, iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle with a new "Space Gray" hue that was introduced for the Apple iPhone 5S, Tuesday.
No major changes have been witnessed in Apple' iPod lineup in the near past but recently the company showed that it has not forgotten its portable media players. While the iPhone 5S is making a grand entrance in the high-end smartphone market, Apple has extended a new "Space Gray" color to the iPod lineup.
The new "Space Gray" color was exclusively rolled out with the pair of new iPhones Tuesday, and has quietly made its way to the iPod Touch, iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle devices. The new shade introduced as the new black for the iPhones was launched alongside silver and gold color variants. The extension of the Space Gray to the iPod Touch adds to the blue, yellow, red, and silver metallic colors. The iPod nano and iPod touch are available in purple, blue, green, yellow, red, and silver.
The iPod Classic and iPod Touch 16GB will not get the new shade and will continue with the black front and silver back combination.
Apple got rid of its true black color for its new iPhone 5S due to its exposure to scratches. The new graphite-like color will hopefully offer better durability.
The iPod lineup with the "Space Gray" shade is available for purchase from Apple's website and in stores at the same price as it offered earlier. The iPod Touch 32GB is available for $299, while the 64GB variant comes with an additional $100. The iPod Shuffle 2GB is available for $49 in any available color and the iPod Nano 16GB for $149.
Apple will start selling its iPhone 5S starting September 20 starting at $199 with contract. The new iPhone 5C, however, does not feature the "Space Gray" or the silver and gold but Apple has introduced bright new colors for this cheaper model. The iPhone 5C is available in five colors: green, white, blue, red, and yellow and starts at $99 for 16Gb with a wireless contract.
