’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast: Would Daniel Radcliffe Had Been a Better Christian Grey? Actor Jokes Fans Were in an ‘Uproar’ When He Wasn’t Cast (VIDEO)

Daniel Radcliffe could care less that fans didn't want him to play Christian Grey in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey." The "Harry Potter" actor sat down with MTV to discuss the final casting decision which chose Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson as the lead couple.

He explained how he was more than a little confused when someone told him that people were in an "uproar" he wasn't going to play the troubled BDSM obsessed billionaire.

"I literally had someone say to me for the first time today, 'The world's in uproar you're not playing Christian Grey,' Radcliffe said during an interview with MTV. "And I'm like 'if this is uproar, it's inaudible.'"

"I think there was approximately no people wanting me to play Christian Grey, including myself," he continued. "I have to say, no offense to anybody, I'm sure they're going to do a great job on the movie, but it's not something that I think would have been a good next step for me."

Even though Radcliffe admitted no one was going to complain that E.L. James and "Team 50" hadn't picked him many fans were upset over Hunnam and Johnson being cast as the leads. James announced the news on Labor Day via Twitter and almost immediately fans began boycotting the decision.

"Want this movie to flop, huh? Nothing about this guy says Christian Grey. Yeah I read the books," one user tweeted.

"Ok... they kill it they freaking kill it. The movie has been totally ruined. Fifty Shades will suck now," someone else posted.

Not long after the final decision was announced a petition was started on change.org demanding executives and producers involved with "Fifty Shades of Grey" recast Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel in place of Hunnam and Johnson.

"Team 50" has no plans of doing a recast and have stuck by their decision. They are urging fans to keep in mind that several people turned down the role for various reasons and to give Hunnam and Johnson a chance.

"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor etc," producer Dana Brunetti tweeted.

"So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
