A Resorts World Casino New York City bus crashed into a building in Queens (New York City) on Monday afternoon, leaving at least six injured, according to Newsweek.
The vehicle reportedly smashed into the corner of a Woodhaven Boulevard building in Rego Park around 2:30 p.m. Debris was left scattered across the street, a piece of the second floor missing from the brick structure, according to Newsweek.
The 39-year-old bus driver was critically injured in the crash as he attempted to avoid hitting another vehicle, according to NBC New York. The bus missed the vehicle, but struck the corner of 62-87 Woodhaven Boulevard.
The six people injured include four passengers, the driver and a person that was inside the building, according to New York Daily News. They are being treated at local hospitals in the area.
Resorts World Casino later released a statement about the crash: "Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by today's bus accident. We are cooperating fully with the authorities in the investigation."
The Resorts World Casino bus was being operated by a contractor at the time of the crash, according to NBC New York. The contractor, Trans Express Inc., had one prior crash in November 2013 and 16 violations in the last two years. The company, however, hasn't received any "serious violations" as defined by the Federal Department of Transportation.
