A million dollar painting was damaged when a 12-year-old Taiwanese boy stumbled in a museum and wound up punching a hole clean through the painting, according to NDTV.
The now viral video, posted by exhibition organizers, shows the pre-teen wearing a t-shirt and shorts, walking past the painting with a drink in his hand. A few seconds later, he stumbles and manages to catch himself, but soon realizes that in doing so, he made a fist-sized gash in the painting he held on to.
The painting damaged in the incident was the 350-year-old Paolo Porpora artwork, called "Flowers", featured at the "Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius" exhibition in Taipei, reported The Guardian. The painting is believed to be worth about $1.5 million.
Fortunately for the boy, and his family, the organizers have opted to not seek any payment for the restoration. One organizer, Sun Chi-hsuan, said the boy was nervous but not to be blamed, he also noted the painting, part of a private collection, was insured, according to Taiwanese news site Focus Taiwan News.
The exhibition, which is made up of over 50 paintings, was closed briefly after the accident on Monday.
