Pre orders for Apple's newest iPhone, the iPhone 5C, begin early tomorrow morning through most of the major U.S. wireless carriers. In a surprising turn of events, it seems Walmart might be giving customers the best bang for their buck by offering the new plastic backed, low-end iPhone model for cheaper than anyone else.
Sprint and AT&T announced that pre-orders for the iPhone 5C will begin at 2 a.m. Central or 3 a.m. Eastern and midnight Pacific. Verizon and T-Mobile have also announced that they will begin pre order sales for the smartphone presumably around the same time. The phone will also be sold on Apple.com according to PCMag.
Most retailers will be selling the phone at $99 for the 16GB version an $199 for the 32GB version. However, at Walmart the 16GB version will be marked down to $79 with a 2-year contract. Each store will begin accepting pre-orders on Sept. 13 at the customer service desk. You can then pick up the device on Sept. 20 or wait until the 21 to trade in an old smartphone for a further discount through a new program the company is implementing. However, pre-orders can be picked up no later than Sept. 25. The company will be offering a similar discount on the 16GB iPhon 5S putting it $10 cheaper than most mobile carrier retailers at $189.
The company will soon offer the, now discontinued by Apple, iPhone 5 for $79 as well. The iPhone 4S will drop to $0.97 and the iPhone 4 will reach $0.10 and come with a $100 gift card to Walmart starting on Sept. 16. Meanwhile, those who wish to purchase an unlocked, pre-paid iPHone via Walmart's Straight Talk program can get the iPhone 5 for $549, the 4 for $349, a $100 discount on both.
