One of the biggest fan theories in the "Game of Thrones" universe could become something more than a theory in the series upcoming sixth season. According to reports, the fan theory referred to as the "Clegane Bowl" might actually take place in season six.
The Clegane Bowl theory suggested that Sandor "the Hound" Clegane and his feared brother Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, who were both supposedly dead, would be pitted against each other in Cerci Lanaster's trail-by-combat against the Faith.
Viewers last saw the Hound in season five when he was pushed off a mountain by Brienne of Tarth and ditched by Arya Stark. The theory speculated that the Hound survived his brutal fall because he is destined to face off against his brother, who already won one trail-by-combat for Cersei.
The actor who portrys the Hound, Rory McCann, was spotted at a hotel in Belfast, Ireland that was commonly used by HBO and the "Game of Thrones" cast and crew, reported to Vanity Fair. McMann currently has no other projects scheduled, or any other reason to be in Belfast, according to Watchers on the Wall.
The likelihood of the fan theory got even more steam behind it since a casting call was released for a character that matched the description of Septon Meribald. Meribald was a man Brienne met on her travels in the in the fourth book in the "Song of Fire and Ice" series, but who never appeared in the TV show.
The character blatantly told Brienne that Sandor Clegane "is at rest" when he said the Hound died. Meribald later in the book spoke of his own "death" during a battle. The character was clearly alive when Meribald told Brienne the story of him dying and fans thought the choice wording proved that the Hound was alive, according to What Culture
Season six of "Game of Thrones" will debut in the spring of 2016.
