Ronda Rousey, the MMA maven and UFC bantamweight champion, took her media feud with boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. up several notches on Wednesday. Speaking to TMZ, Rousey called out Mayweather, leader of the "Money Team," over her own earning power and Mayweather's rumored struggles with the written word.
"[Floyd] said, 'You make $300 million a night, then you can give me a call.' I actually did the math and given the numbers of my last fight, I'm actually the highest-paid UFC fighter and I'm a woman. I think I actually make two or three times more than he does per second. So, when he learns to read and write, he can text me," Rousey said while walking her dog in Los Angeles.
Rousey completed her barrage by referring to herself as "just a little bit more efficient," which constitutes a pretty major understatement considering her last fight against Bethe Correia at UFC 190 ended in just 34 seconds and the combined total fighting time of her last four bouts is just 130 seconds.
Rousey, set to square off against former professional boxer Holly Holm on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas, made it clear during a reddit AMA with fans recently that she believes she can beat anyone, including Mayweather and any other boxers, on the planet in a no-rules fight.
Rousey's most recent comments lashing out against Mayweather came on the heels of Mayweather suggesting that Rousey, who he has traded numerous barbs with, should keep to herself unless and until the purse from one of her fights even comes close to matching his own.
"I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes. When she can do that, then call me," said Mayweather.
Rousey has in the past made a point of jabbing Mayweather over his alleged domestic violence issues and Mayweather once indicated he didn't even know who "he" (Rousey) was.
