Rapper Lil B has tried out for a professional basketball team before, back in 2012 when he tried out for the Golden State Warriors, but lately his involvement with professional basketball has come from his social media presence. Now though Lil B looks to be getting another chance at a potential professional basketball career as he will be trying out for the Philadelphia 76ers D-League affiliate, according to Kyle Newport of Bleacher Report.
Lil B, birth name Brandon McCartney, is 26 years old and stands at 5 foot-6 so if he were to somehow make this team it would be a huge upset. The "Based God" was given an offer from the Delaware 87ers via Twitter and he accepted saying "thanks to your front office for keeping your word."
Lil B is known for many things including rapping, and his social media presence but he is not know for basketball although he clearly has love for the NBA. McCartney has 1.17 million followers on Twitter and his followers have become somewhat of a cult so they have supported his dreams of playing in the NBA.
The last time Lil B made major news involving the NBA was when he famously placed his "Based" curse on Kevin Durant and James Harden. The "Based God" claimed that Harden stole his cooking dance which Harden famously made a big thing in Houston last season. McCartney has since lifted the curses on both NBA players and looks to try and stop them on the court now.
Tryouts for the team are on September 19th and you can be sure that this will be one of the most highly anticipated D-League tryouts ever.
