Basically, all phones that are a generation above the iPhon 3GS will receive the John Ive inspired facelift when the company pushes the software update to all of its users on Sept. 18. The system comes out just two days before the release of the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, which go on retailer's shelves on Sept. 20.
Currently only registered developers have access to the beta version of the system. However, Apple released its "golden master" beta update on Tuesday. This version is typically the version that ends up in people's hands as most of the major software tweaks occur during the other beta phases.
Some new features to get excited about, that don't seem to be restricted by any product, are the inclusion of new ringtones and text tones to alert you to all notifications from your devices. There will also be improvements to the Notifications center, and an all new Control Panel that will put most of the most used "Settings" options just one swipe away. In addition, iTunes Radio will be launching its Pandora-like music streaming service that takes people's individual music tastes and builds a personalized radio station just for them.
