IK Enemkpali -- the guy who broke Geno Smith's jaw, was released by the New York Jets and immediately signed by the Buffalo Bills - is apparently something of a serial striker.
It turns out that Smith is not the only person Enemkpali has punched in his day. Back in 2011, Enemkpali struck a man he thought was a woman he had found on the Internet to purchase oral sex, Yahoo Sports reported.
It turns out that Enemkpali was catfished by a man, though that is not where the oddness ends.
The defensive end reportedly met someone on Facebook named "Missy Lee" and scheduled a meet for, err, the exchange. However, when the former Louisiana Tech player arrived, "Missy Lee" was completely shrouded in a blanket. Surprisingly, this was just the first red flag for Enemkpali.
Later, Enemkpali saw that "Missy Lee" was sporting beard stubble and that there was a third person in the room. Assuming he was going to be robbed, according to the report, Enemkpali punched the person claiming to be "Missy Lee" and escaped by jumping through a window. Yes, we realize that this sounds like the plot of a bad action movie starring Nicholas Cage.
The surprise man in all this - Ketryn Anderson, who reportedly is (and we're not joking) a senior pastor at a Shreveport (La.) church - repeatedly threatened to report Enemkpali to the authorities for breaking two of his teeth. This led to Enemkpali filing his own report three days later. What a twist!
Enemkpali refused to press charges once the school found out about the incident. Honestly, we can't blame him. We'd want to keep this under wraps too. He had been suspended before the start of that season for striking an off-duty cop at a bar and was charged with battery of an officer and disturbing the peace. The police's theory was that Anderson/"Missy Lee" was hoping to take advantage of the athlete's prior run-in with the law.
Anderson refused to comment to ESPN unless they paid him.
Enemkpali is now a member of the Bills who play the Jets in Week 9. If he is still on the team and if Smith's jaw heals in time, the two could face off against one another on the field. Hopefully, there is no gender mystery this time around.
