‘Doctor Strange’ RUMORS: Mads Mikkelsen Eyed By Marvel For Villain Role?

"Hannibal" star and all-around All-Star bad guy Mads Mikkelsen is being eyed by Marvel for a villain role in Marvel's "Doctor Strange," Variety reported.

"Doctor Strange" already boasts an impressive cast of Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton. Mikkelsen would be icing on the cake for the Phase 3 entry.

No offer has been made as of this writing, but one is expected in the near future. Marvel declined to comment on Variety's report.

Cumberbatch will assume the lead role of Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon who seeks out mystical healing following a car accident and winds up as the new Sorcerer Supreme and protector of Earth. Swinton will play Strange's mentor, the Ancient One, while Ejiofor will portray Baron Mordo, a fellow student under the Ancient One who develops a grudge against Strange.

Mikkelsen's exact role remains a mystery, but Variety reports that it will be some sort of antagonist.

This is not the first time Marvel Studios has gone after Mikkelsen. They reportedly wanted him for the role of Malekith the Accursed in "Thor: The Dark World," but Mikkelsen was forced to drop out of the running after nabbing the role of everyone's favorite cannibal on NBC's "Hannibal." The role eventually went to Christopher Eccleston.

Mikkelsen's career does not appear to be in any danger following the disappointing cancellation of "Hannibal." The Danish actor will appear in Lucasfilm's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" next year.

"Doctor Strange" will hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
