It was previously revealed by Warner Bros. that the actor cast as Batman in the "Man of Steel" sequel would be "older," Variety reports. Now, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsuijhara revealed even more details about Ben Affleck's character that might leave some fans scratching their heads.
According to Variety, Tsuijhara told investors at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications, and Entertainment Conference that the new Batman will be "tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for a while."
No one knows exactly what that means but it's not like Batman has ever been a cheerful and happy kind of superhero anyway. Affleck was announced as the new Batman on Aug. 22 to a ton of criticism and backlash.
"We think it's going to be huge," Tsuijhara said about their casting decision. "We think it's the perfect springboard for Batman and Superman. Ben is perfect for the vision Zack has for that character. The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character."
Despite the harsh comments executives are standing by their decision and moving forward with the sequel which has not been given an official title yet. The movie has been given a filming location, however. According to MTV, the sequel will be shot in Detroit and throughout the state of Michigan.
"Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie," director Zack Snyder said in the press release. "Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborations, and we are looking forward to working together on this film."
"This project will further strengthen the reputation of Michigan and metro Detroit as a premier film destination. We look forward to the spotlight shining on our incredibly talented workforce and the businesses that support our film industry here in Michigan," Margaret O'Riley, the director of the Michigan Film Office added.
