Pregnant Kim Kardashian wants a speedy trial for her divorce with Kris Humphries and wants everything to be officially over between the two before she delivers in July, reports E! News.
Kardashian is having a hard time getting Kris Humphries to proceed with the divorce trial. Kardashian filed a motion last month seeking for an earlier trial date or being granted a divorce soon.
"I do not want to be married to [Humphries] when I have my baby," Kardashian said in the motion filed for a speedy trial Jan. 24 in Los Angeles Superior Court. "Immediately upon it becoming known to the public that I was pregnant...I began to see articles in the media with quotes attributed to [Humphries] stating that now that I am pregnant he has 'got all the power,' 'that he is in control of my misery' and that he is not going 'to allow' me to be divorced by the time I have my baby."
The mother-to-be said her child's well being worries her.
"I am requesting the status of my marriage be determined now for not only my health and welfare but also for the health and well-being of my unborn child," she said. "I firmly believe that an immediate dissolution of our marriage will help create a new, full life for me,.
"One chapter will be officially over, and a new one can begin. The same should hold true for [Humphries]."
Humphries' team said due to his busy NBA schedule, he may not be available until May 20, which conflicts with a trial scheduled for Feb. 15, according to E! news. Kardashian's attorney, Laura Wasser has asked for Humphries to be present.
"Respondent does have some 'big-time explaining to do' as Petitioner fully expects Respondent at the [Feb. 15 conference] to once again claim he is not ready to go to trial," Wasser said.
Wasser further noted that the six-month waiting period is long over and the divorce should be processed.
"Respondent has had more than adequate opportunity to prepare his 'fraud' claim for trial. Indeed, there is nothing to prepare since there is not a shred of evidence to support the alleged fraud," she said.
Kardashian's first marriage was to record producer, Damon Thomas when she was 19. They split in 2004. Her second marriage with Humphries was on August 20, 2011. The two separated Oct. 31, 2011.
