One of the driving forces for Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in “The Originals” is the birth of his son. I know many Klaus fans can’t wait to see him as an adorable hybrid daddy in scenes with his child. However, according to an interview Morgan recently did with Entertainment Weekly, Klaus won’t just slide into being the perfect dad.
Morgan told the magazine that his character has “mixed feelings about the fatherhood things.”
“It’s a difficult one because as we know, he values family very highly … he has a weird way of being protective over them,” Morgan said. “And I think he’s [also] still coming to terms that it’s all happening and all still sinking in for him.”
If you remember from the pilot, Klaus wasn’t exactly on-board with Sophie’s (Danielle Pineda) plan, even when she said he was the father of Hayley’s (Pheobe Tonkin) child. However, he eventually decided to help take down Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and take care of the baby.
As Morgan points out Klaus has a “weird” dynamic with his family. While on “The Vampire Diaries” we watched him both come to his brothers’ and sister’s aid and also turn on them in an instant.
We know that if Klaus doesn’t protect Haley from the outset of the show at least Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will. However, we expect that he’ll soon “come to terms” with what’ happening, get on board with being a dad, and become a threat to anyone who attempts to go after his child.
“The Originals” premiers Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c on The CW.
