Todrick Hall is HNGN's Man Crush Monday for Aug. 31! The multi-talented Hall is the latest YouTube star to make the jump to television with a new MTV series, "Todrick." The actor/musician is both a veteran of the ninth season of "American Idol" and Broadway musical "Memphis."
The eight-episode "Todrick" series gives viewers a backstage look at how Hall makes "epic videos on a less-than-epic budget," Hall says, according to USA Today. Some of Hall's most popular YouTube videos include a musical mash-up of Disney princes, an a cappella spin on The Wizard of Oz and a singing drive-through order at McDonald's.
Each week Hall and his team make an all-out production, complete with new hair, makeup, choreography and music as fast as they can, according to Entertainment Weekly. "The show follows my life and the friends that I've gathered over the past few years making YouTube videos. Every week, we're taking a brand new concept - a brand new original song, brand new hair, makeup, choreography and making a video come to life on our shoestring budget," Hall says.
Hall comes from the world of YouTube where each video he makes showcases his own choreography, his production, his costuming and his own renditions of songs that cover the whole range of hip-hop, r&b, pop, gospel and country music, according to the New York Daily News.
"Todrick" premieres Monday at 10 p.m. EDT on MTV.
