Don't count Ashley Madison out just yet! According to the owners of Avid Life Media, the parent company of Ashley Madison, the dating site for extramarital affairs is still growing.
"Recent media reports predicting the imminent demise of Ashley Madison are greatly exaggerated,"Avid Life Media, said in a release Monday, according to Fortune.
It appears getting hacked and having the details of over 33 million accounts made public, being the target of multiple lawsuits, and even losing the website's original CEO is not enough to slow the website down.
In a statement to various media outlets, Avid Life Media revealed that in the past week alone, "hundreds of thousands of new users signed up for the Ashley Madison platform - including 87,596 women," according to the BBC.
The last portion of that statement, came as a direct response to Gizmodo which reported last week that a high percentage of the alleged female accounts weren't being used by real people or were inactive.
Providing further evidence to refute that analysis, Avid Media Life reported that "Last week alone, women sent more than 2.8 million messages within our platform."
"The ratio of male members who paid to communicate with women on our service versus the number of female members who actively used their account (female members are not required to pay to communicate with men on Ashley Madison) was 1.2 to 1," she said. "These numbers are the main reason that Ashley Madison is the number one service for people seeking discreet relationships."
Avid Life Media declined to comment further, hoping to let the "evidence" presented in its report speak for itself.
