World Soccer Transfer Deadline Day has not disappointed followers of the beautiful game. Manchester United attacker Adnan Januzaj is the latest name to find himself moving to a new club. Januzaj is going on a season loan to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund after manager Louis Van Gaal could not see Januzaj playing a more significant role with the club this season.
According to reports from The Guardian, there is a chance that this deal will blossom into an official transfer deal after the end of the loan cycle. If that does happen, Dortmund's offensive attack would benefit from the 20-year-old attacker, especially with his talented wing play and unique field vision.
Dortmund was not the first place that Januzaj was rumored to sign with. ESPN FC reported that Premier League clubs Everton and Sunderland were hot to sign the Belgian International. However, signing with Dortmund appears to be the move Januzaj wanted the most.
"Borussia Dortmund are a great club, the fans here are supposed to be really incredible. I want to achieve great things with the team," Januzaj said on his Twitter.
United's Van Gaal made it very clear to The Daily Mail that Januzaj had "plenty of opportunities" to showcase his talents since he took over the team last season. "Adnan had eight starts last season and 14 substitutions so he didn't have any chances? That's not true in my opinion" said Van Gaal.
Since signing with Manchester United, Januzaj made 62 appearances and tallied just five goals during that time. Januzaj has also made just five appearances for his country, Belgium.
The move comes at an appropriate time for Januzaj in his young career. Dortmund needed more attacking options and United wanted to move away from Januzaj for the time being. Once the season is complete for both squads, the true winner in this loan deal will emerge and the belief is that Dortmund will be the ones celebrating success.
