UPDATE: The Dodgers also acquired outfielder Chris Heisey from the Toronto Blue Jays, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Los Angeles announced the deal.

Both the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have multiple injuries in the outfield and the division rivals each made a trade to address that area of need on Monday night.

The Dodgers, with injuries to Yasiel Puig and Kike Hernandez, went out and acquired Justin Ruggiano from the Seattle Mariners, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reported last night. Los Angeles once had a logjam in the outfield, but the recent struggles/injuries of some players have called for further depth.

The Dodgers confirmed the trade shortly after the news broke.

Ruggiano was signed by the Mariners this past offseason to platoon with fellow outfielder Seth Smith. In just 36 games this season the 33-year-old is batting .214/.321/.357 8 runs scored, 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.

The San Francisco Giants did the same and traded for Boston Red Sox outfielder Alejandro De Aza, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. San Fran is dealing with injuries to Hunter Pence and Angel Pagan, but have been making due with Nori Aoki, Gregor Blanco and then newly acquired Marlon Byrd.

Both clubs confirmed the trade shortly after Rosenthal's report.

This will be De Aza's third MLB team in 2015 after he was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Red Sox earlier this year. The 31-year-old is batting .261/.319/.436 with 39 runs scored, 7 home runs and 32 RBIs in 90 games.

The Giants sent prospect pitcher Luis Ysla to the Red Sox in exchange for De Aza. Ysla, 23, is 3-6 with a 6.21 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 95 strikeouts in 33 games (nine starts), totaling 79 2/3 innings, with Class-A Advanced San Jose.
