If starting the season 0-2 wasn't bad enough, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano appears to be losing the locker room. Darrelle Revis is the latest Buc reportedly unhappy with Greg Schiano's "strict" coaching style, Fox Sports reports. The relationship between Schiano and Josh Freeman also appears to be coming to a head as the quarterback denies having requested a trade.
Revis' discontent with Schiano is reportedly because the coach is too strict. He's also unhappy with Schiano's defensive schemes, which feature an abundance of zone coverage as opposed to Revis' preferred man coverage, according to the New York Post.
Things quickly seem to be unraveling for the Buccaneers. Amidst players reportedly believing Schiano rigged the vote for team captains, Freeman appears to be finished in Tampa Bay - be it his doing or the team's.
First there were reports that Freeman's future depended on a big game on Sunday. Then there was the report he was "likely" to request a trade, which he denied after the Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints, according to Pro Football Talk.
"If its (sic) going behind the scenes I need a new camp," Freeman said when asked if anyone from his camp mentioned a trade request, via Pewter Report. "I'm focused on being a Buccaneer."
Mike Glennon, Schiano's hand-picked rookie quarterback, looks to be in the waiting. In two games, Freeman completed 24-of-53 passes for 335 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Ex-Bucs quarterback and current NBC analyst Shaun King characterized the Buccaneers as being in "disarray."
"There's a lot of disarray in Tampa," King said last week, via the Tampa Bay Times. "Some of the players felt there was an unfair counting of the captains votes. Greg Schiano is a micromanager, and it's starting to wear thin with some of the players. I don't think those guys are currently buying into the my-way-or-the-highway."
Freeman is in the final year of his rookie contract, while Revis is under contract through 2018.
