Donald Trump held a private meeting with Javier Palomarez in New York City on Tuesday morning. The Presidential hopeful and the CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce met at Trump's offices in Trump Tower, according to Latino Fox News.
The meeting lasted more than an hour, in which the two talked about the Latino vote, illegal immigration and the economy. "I found the private Donald to be quite different than the public Donald...This Donald Trump was very elegant, very gracious and very hospitable," Palomarez said. "He listened more than he spoke."
However, all these nice comments don't mean that the Republican candidate has managed to sway the CEO. "To be very clear, we are still in disagreement with Donald Trump. In no way is this an endorsement or support of Donald Trump," Palomarez said.
Trump has made incendiary remarks about Mexican immigrants in the past, likening them to "rapists" and "criminals." The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce boycotted all Trump properties and brands earlier this year as a result of those remarks, according to CNN. Last week's Gallup poll said that 65 percent of Hispanics do not view Trump favorably.
As a result of the private meeting, Trump now plans to attend a Q & A with the Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 8 of this year. "We wanted to hear Mr. Trump clearly articulate his views, away from the public spectacle, the media, and the debate floor," Palomarez said. The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce represents more than 3 million businesses, according to Politico.
