The FBI is monitoring the investigation surrounding Gilbert Flores, the man who was shot to death at the hands of two Bexar County Sheriff's Deputies, according to MSN.
An unedited cellphone video was released to the media Monday, showing what appears to be a man with his hands in the air just before he is shot to death. "Experienced civil rights investigators from the FBI will thoroughly review the facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting. Our focus is to determine whether a civil rights violation took place as a result of a deputy willfully engaging in the use of excessive or unjustified force," the FBI said in a statement, MSN reported.
Flores, 41, is seen in the video running outside and apparently raising his hands. The video showing both his hands went viral on Tuesday. There are other videos showing other angles of the event, according to The Inquisitr.
"In regards to the deputy involved shooting, we're asking for calm and patience. We are diligently working to complete the investigation, so we can move to the next step. We want to get this right for the Flores family, our deputies and their families, and our community. Please be patient," the Bexar County Sheriff's Department said on its official Facebook page.
"He put his hands in the air and then he had his hands up for a few seconds and the cops shot him twice," the man who filmed the video, Michael Thomas, said, according Fox2Now St. Louis.
