Kim Kardashian has made a bold move and left the Kardashian family's longtime publicist, Jill Fritzo, the Huffington Post reports. The reality star has signed on with Slate PR co-founder Ina Treciokas.
Sources told the New York Post that Kardashian was urged to find another PR firm by Kanye West. Fritzo still manages the other Kardashians.
"Kim wants to set herself apart from the Kardashian PR machine, and Kanye West advised her to build her own team," the source said.
Fritzo currently has her hands full with the drug and cheating allegations surrounding Khloe Kardashian's husband, Lamar Odom. His alleged drug use is said to be ruining the family brand. According to the Huffington Post, the Kardashian-Jenner clan was initially introduced to the public as the "modern day Brady Bunch who relies on their ability to be simultaneously relatable and aspirational."
The family is reportedly not exactly sure how to handle all the negative attention and have chosen to try and ignore it. Besides Khloe's DUI arrest in 2008 the family has not had to deal with drug and alcohol allegations.
No one from the family has spoken out publicly about the allegations surrounding Odom who is said to be living separate from his wife because she kicked him out of their home. TMZ reports that she gave him an ultimatum and told him that he either needs to get help or the marriage was over.
It has also been rumored that Khloe has been feuding with her mom, Kris Jenner, over whether or not Odom's problems should be included on the show. Khloe doesn't want to publicize her husband's drug addiction on the reality show but Jenner reportedly does.
"Kris and Khloe are fighting over whether or not to include Lamar Odom's drug problems on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," a source told Hollywood Life. "Khloe is 100 percent against it, and Kris is all for it. It's so sad for Khloe right now because her number one priority is helping Lamar get clean."
Kim's decision to change PR teams might have been a smart move for the reality star. It has been rumored that the Kardashian's won't be able to recover from the scandal and if Kim wants to keep her image separate then a new PR team would be best option.
