Intel has launch its new line of processors, nicknamed "Skylake," ahead of the IFA Tech Show, which takes places from Sept. 4-9 in Berlin, according to BBC News. The processors are marketed towards a variety of different kinds of computers, from gaming rigs to portable computers and smartphones.
Despite its new capabilities and optimization to handle 4K videos, there are worries about the demand for new devices. The slowdown of the Chinese economy and weakening of European markets may cause some companies and governments to hold off on upgrading their computers.
Tech industry analyst Jack Gold believes that despite these problems, the Skylake chips will present Intel with plenty of opportunities.
"A pretty large number of people who have an older PC and who will upgrade to Windows 10 will do so on a new computer," he said. "The biggest thing that's going to be attractive will be the fact that power-requirements have gone down quite substantially."
The new line of chips will be especially useful for laptops, and Intel claims that they will lead to a 10 percent increase in performance, 30 percent increase in graphics performance and an extra hour of battery life in comparison to the Broadwell chips, Gizmodo reported.
As of Wednesday, more than 800 systems using Skylake will be launched, and Intel has almost 50 different kinds of processors that will be coming out in the next few weeks, according to CNET.
