Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have split. After two years of marriage, the "Hello Kitty" singer revealed on her Instagram account Wednesday that she and the Nickelback singer have decided to separate.
"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," the 30-year-old singer wrote alongside a happy photo of the now-former couple on their wedding day.
"Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support," said Lavigne, who has been battling a severe case of Lyme disease since last September.
The couple got engaged shortly after they began dating in July 2012. Kroeger and Lavigne married in July 2013 at a medieval castle in France. Last year, Kroeger gifted his wife a 17-carat diamond ring for their first wedding anniversary.
Reports about Kroeger and Lavigne's alleged troubled marriage had been circulating since last year. At the time, a source close to the Lavigne told E! News that "things still aren't good" between the couple and that the two have a lot of issues.
