After rumors circulated online that Kermit the Frog moved on rather quickly after his breakup with longtime love and fellow "Muppets" co-star Miss Piggy, he took to Twitter to clear the air, addressing rumors that he's dating ABC executive Denise the Pig, reported CNN.
"While I prefer to keep my personal life private, this is Hollywood, so who am I kidding?" Kermit wrote in a statement released via Twitter. "It is true that I am dating again. However, at this time no one woman— pig or otherwise — is my official 'new girlfriend.' We are simply close friends."
His response comes after People released a photo of him and Denise working closely together with a quote from a source close to the beloved amphibian's camp that claimed the two are an item, HNGN previously reported. Denise has yet to comment.
Kermit and Miss Piggy announced their split four weeks ago in separate statements, as previously reported by HNGN. The longtime couple decided to end their romantic relationship after three decades, but will continue to work on their late-night talk show together, "Up Late With Miss Piggy." They will also be featured in the upcoming docuseries "The Muppets," premiering Sept. 22, at 8 p.m., on ABC.
Miss Piggy has moved forward as well. She posted a photo with Australian hunk Liam Hemsworth earlier this week and even exchanged flirty tweets with actor William Shatner.
