Last month, filming on the "Harry Potter" prequel "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" started at Leavesden Studios in England. Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne was cast as the lead in the film, Newt Scamander, the wizarding world's leading magizoologist.
"Like many people, I read those books, I watched those films, and became completely intoxicated by J.K. Rowling's world. The idea of getting to tiptoe into it felt truly exciting. I hope it's going to be quite a ride," Redmayne said, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The British actor was happy to talk about his excitement about the upcoming film, but he declined to further elaborate on any details of the movie. "I'm allowed to say absolutely nothing!" he explained.
"Fantastic Beasts" was written by "Harry Potter" author Rowling and was the first screenplay she ever wrote. The film is based a textbook in the Potter world that is also titled "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." David Yates was named the director of the movie and was responsible for the last four "Harry Potter" films, according to Forbes.
Rowling cautioned fans that "Fantastic Beasts" was not intended to be a "Harry Potter" sequel.
"'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway," Rowling said, according to Variety.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
