Dean Jones, the actor who starred in numerous Disney classic films such as "The Love Bug," "The Shaggy D.A.," and "That Darn Cat!," has died at the age of 84.
Jones passed away in Los Angeles on Tuesday due to complications from Parkinson's disease, his publicist and spokesperson Richard Hoffman said.
The late actor started his career as a host of a radio show in Alabama entitled "Dean Jones Sings" as well as a performer and producer in various amateur musical shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jones' other film credits include "Under the Yum-Yum Tree," "The Million Dollar Duck," "Snowball Express" and "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo," as well as another classic "Beethoven," which was released by Universal.
Besides films, Jones also had roles on Broadway, having taken on roles in five shows. He made his Broadway debut with Jane Fonda in "There Was A Little Girl" in 1960, where he played her boyfriend in the drama that tells the story about a raped woman.
That same year, he starred in the Broadway version of "Under the Yum-Yum Tree." He also had a career in television, most notably starring in "Ensign O'Toole" from 1962 to 1964, the Associated Press reported.
Jones was inducted into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame in 1995. He is survived by his wife Lory Basham Jones, their three children together as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, according to Variety.
