SriLankan Airlines signed a deal with Amadeus to migrate from SriLankan's existing passenger service system to full Altéa suite by 2014 to enhance the customer experience, according to Breaking Travel News.
The national air carrier of Sri Lanka has focused on advancing in technology and migrated to Altéa suite. This makes the SriLankan Airlines the first to adopt Altéa suite in the Indian subcontinent. Amadeus debut in the Indian subcontinent opens path for a bright future ahead. The partnership will not only migrate the SriLankan Airlines to Altéa suite but also the Mihin Lanka.
"We consider this a significant move in our future plans to place SriLankan Airlines in an advantageous position and becoming the first airline to adopt the Altéa Suite in the Indian subcontinent displays our commitment to be on par with the technological developments that are critical for efficiency in today's aviation industry," Nishantha Wickremasinhe, Chairman SriLankan Airlines said in a statement, reports Breaking Travel News.
Under the agreement, Amadeus will help SriLankan Airlines manage mission-critical reservations, ticketing, inventory and departure control processes, says the report. This allows the SriLankan Airlines to enter the oneworld global alliance.
"Implementing Amadeus' Altéa suite is crucial to the evolution and expansion of SriLankan Airlines and our inclusion within the oneworld global alliance," Kaplia Chandrasena, Director/Chief Executive Officer, SriLankan Airlines said, according to the report. "The Altéa suite will truly modernise our IT processes, enhancing our service provision, whilst enabling us to become a more 'customer-centric' carrier than ever before.This agreement is highly significant for our employees, passengers and partners."
Amadeus' Altéa Suite is a success with the majority of oneworld's global alliance and most recently Catahay Pacific and Singapore Airlines migrated to Altéa Suite. In addition there are more than 120 airlines worldwide with Amadeus' Altéa Suite.
"This is a key strategic win for Amadeus as we continue to extend our global reach," Julia Sattel, SVP Airline IT, Amadeus IT Group said about their agreement with Srilankan Airlines.
"This agreement with SriLankan is also important for us as it is the first Amadeus customer for Altéa from the Indian subcontinent, something that we are extremely proud of. We very much look forward to working in partnership with SriLankan as the migration process begins in earnest this year."
