Afroman To Get Counseling Instead Of Going To Jail For Punching Female Fan

Afroman pled guilty to assault for punching a female fan in the face earlier this year from when she made her way onto his stage during a concert, but he will not be going to jail, according to TMZ. Instead, he has been put on probation and will need to seek counseling, take anger management classes and regular drug tests. If he fails to do any of this, he will face six months of jail time.

The 41-year-old "Because I Got High" assaulted the fan, Haley, back in February when she somehow got on stage because of the lack of security. At the time, everyone assumed he'd be facing a huge lawsuit after the fan, Haley, hired an attorney because she suffered several injuries, including a mild concussion, TMZ reported at the time. Even though the incident couldn't be denied based on the video footage, he claimed that it was self-defense.

Haley does plan on suing the promoters of the concert since she did suffer a concussion, according to The Mirror. The statement at the time also blamed the lack of security, as it read, "This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space. It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces."

Afroman did apologize to Haley a few days after the incident, as previously reported by HNGN. "I'm here to apologize. I need some help. I'm going to find a foundation," he said. "When people get on stage you don't know what they're doing. It was wrong, I shouldn't have slapped her with an open hand. And security should have been there...I'm just here to do me, I shouldn't, what happened shouldn't have happened. I'm just trying to make the best out of a bad situation."
