An alligator in Louisiana crawled out of a neighborhood storm drain Thursday morning and trekked across several lawns before settling down on a family's front porch, according to World Now.
Neighbors were in awe as they witnessed the gator make its way through the neighborhood throughout the day until it finally crept its way out of sight into a nearby pond.
Witnesses say officials with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife came to retrieve the gator, but by the time they arrived, it was in the depths of a neighbor's pond, Fox News reported.
They also said that they had never seen a gator quite as big as this one, with estimations of the reptile being at least 10 feet long.
Residents aren't sure how long the alligator was in the drains, but they do have an idea of where it might have come from, according to WLOX.
"There's a canal on the other side, and it pretty much lines up here. It probably got into the pipe, came up this way and when it got here, all he could do was come up," said Richard Webber.
The Department Of Wildlife and Fisheries says, however, that not all alligators are to be considered nuisance, even if they are in a strange place like a neighborhood, according to the department's website,
Alligators that are four feet and under are generally afraid of humans and present no danger to people or pets.
