Amber Heard: Johnny Depp's Wife's Dog-Smuggling Case Adjourned By Australian Court

Johnny Depp's wife Amber Heard's court hearing addressing allegations that she illegally smuggled the couple's dogs to Australia was adjourned on Monday until November, according to The Associated Press.

In July, Heard was charged on two counts of illegally importing Pistol and Boo into Australia and one count of producing false documents, as HNGN previously reported.

The "Magic Mike XXL" actress could be facing a heavy fine and up to 10 years in prison if she is found guilty. The case was adjourned after Heard failed to appear in court, and the next court hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 2.

The couple apparently brought the pooches with them in a private jet when they flew to Queensland earlier this year, where Depp was filming the fifth movie in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise on Australia's Gold Coast. Heard was taking care of the pets while Depp was at work, according to a previous HNGN report.

Australia has strict biosecurity laws in place to prevent the spread of non-native diseases like rabies and require dogs to spend a minimum of 10 days in a government quarantine facility once arriving in the country.

Depp and Heard were given 72 hours to transport the dogs back to the United States, warning them that the dogs would be euthanized if they failed to send them back. Pistol and Boo boarded the flight back to America just hours before the deadline.
