Chelsea FC is gearing up for a huge transfer bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba in January, according to Bleacher Report. Pogba is regarded as one of the brightest talents in Europe and the asking price for him is incredibly high, yet accurate.
Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta made it clear to Chelsea that Pogba is valued around £73 million, according to Metro UK. If Pogba continues to impress during this Serie A season, Marotta stated that his price will go even higher.
"I've noticed how the Premier League has become richer, and we've seen clubs buying players for what would have been crazy prices until recently, but are very normal today. If Pogba continues his performance of last season, I think next year, €100 million will not suffice," stated Marotta.
Determining the value of a player in today's transfer market is hard. How can one person really be worth so much or little? "Experts" on the business have it all worked out down to a science and even have ways to project a players value long-term.
Pogba is a terrific player and someone that is worthy of a large contract, however, talking about the two deals that Juventus are looking at selling him for do not seem like accurate and fair numbers. In the world of European soccer, anything is possible.
