The Cleveland Browns have suspended offensive line coach Andy Moeller as the result of an assault investigation, according to ESPN's Tony Grossi. HNGN passed along a report on Monday suggesting that was likely the issue behind Moeller's "indefinite" suspension from the team.
Berea prosecutors have not made a final determination yet as to whether or not to pursue charges against Moeller, Jim Walters said in a statement on Tuesday, as a woman filed a complaint against Moeller on Saturday then changed her mind the next day.
"The Berea City Prosecutor is in the process of reviewing the Police Department report in the matter of a member of the coaching staff of the Cleveland Browns. This review is likely to continue for a number of days. If charges are issued, an announcement will be made at an appropriate time. Since this is an ongoing investigation, and since no charges have been made at this time, no further information from the police report and no further investigative material will be released. For today, this will be the last statement from this office."
Per ESPN, the police report reveals that a woman notified Berea police of an assault after leaving Moeller's home. At the time, conflicting statements in regards to the assault were recorded and "no injuries were apparent," but the woman signed the complaint.
The woman then called Berea police the next day and said she wanted to drop the complaint.
Moeller has a history of alcohol abuse, having been arrested for DUI in 2011 when he was a member of the Baltimore Ravens organization. As part of his sentence, he must abstain from alcohol use.
