The Who Postpones Tour Due To Roger Daltrey's Health

The Who had no choice but to postpone the first four dates of its upcoming fall tour because lead singer Roger Daltrey has fallen ill. The band was set to start the second leg of the Who Hits 50! tour Sept. 14, but canceled the first four shows because 71-year-old lead singer Daltrey has some sort of unspecified virus that doctors believe he needs more time to recover from, according to the Who's website.

The canceled tour dates were in San Diego, Anaheim, Calif., Las Vegas and Los Angeles. New dates for these shows will be announced sometime over the next couple of weeks. The group also "regrettably" had to cancel its Sept. 18 performance for the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The tour will resume Sept. 24 at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

The first leg of this tour began in November 2014 in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Guardian. Many people believe this could be the band's last tour. This also isn't the first time The Who had to cancel shows during this specific tour. When the band was supposed to be in London during the first leg, some dates were canceled because of another illness.

Before the 50th anniversary tour began, Daltrey opened up to Billboard about how exhausting touring was becoming.

"It was incredibly enjoyable, but it was incredibly exhausting," he said of The Who's previous tour. "And we have to be realistic about our age. We are what we are, and extremely good at it, but we're lucky to be alive and still touring."
