A Florida woman caught speeding in a school zone was recorded on a dascham video telling a Palm Beach County, Fla., deputy "no wonder you people get shot," after she was pulled over and given a ticket.
The incident occurred on Sept. 1 when the deputy caught a woman, later identified as Joy Feinberg, going 51 in a 20-mph zone near Hagen Ranch Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard in the area of Hagen Ranch Elementary, according to NBC's West Palm Beach affiliate WPTV.
The video, which was posted by the sheriff's office to YouTube, shows the deputy pulling the speeding car over. Upon doing so, he writes up a $606 ticket and approaches the car so he can give it to the woman.
Deputy: Ma'am, ma'am.
Feinberg: What?
Deputy: You are being cited for speeding. This explains what your options are. Drive safe.
Feinberg: You know what? No wonder you people get shot. You're absolute a--holes.
Deputy: OK, thank you ma'am. I appreciate that.
Feinberg: You're welcome. Have a nice day.
Deputy: Drive safe.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw talked about the event, questioning the reason behind Feinberg's hostile response.
"This isn't a deputy that made an arrest. This isn't a deputy that is in a fight with somebody. This isn't a questionable circumstance. This is a deputy trying to make sure children are safe," he said, according to Fox's Miami affiliate WSVN. "She has to make the comment of, 'This is why you people get shot,' and then calls him [expletive]. What's the reason behind that?"
He went on to mention that he sees the verbal altercation as a trend of disrespect toward law enforcement.
"There seems like there's this trend of disrespect when here's a deputy trying to save children's lives," he said, "and somebody has got to talk to us like that? I think it's unacceptable."
Feinberg has declined to comment on why she responded the deputy way she did. Regardless of her reason, she has 30 days to pay the $606 ticket.
