The most anticipated series in the MLB this week will take place in the Bronx. The New York Yankees (77-61) will host the Toronto Blue Jays (79-60) in a crucial four-game set to determine supremacy in the AL East with less than 25 games remaining in the season.
And the best pitching matchup of the series will get things going on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET when Yankees' right-hander Luis Severino squares off against Blue Jays' left-hander David Price.

Severino (3-2, 2.04 ERA) will face Toronto for the second time this season. He last faced the MLB's best offense in mid-August, but suffered a loss after surrendering three earned runs on five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out nine however, which is a good sign for a potential rebound outing tonight.
The right-hander is 3-0 with a 0.98 ERA in his last three starts against the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays.
On the other hand, one of the best pitchers in the MLB since 2012 will take the mound for Toronto. Price (14-5, 2.43 ERA) has been lights-out since the Blue Jays acquired him at the trade deadline. The left-hander is 5-1 with a 2.15 ERA, including two outings against New York, having gone 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA.
However, Price had his worst outing of the season against the Yankees back in April when he was still on the Tigers. The veteran surrendered eight earned runs on 10 hits and three walks in just 2 1/3 innings in a 13-4 loss in Detroit.
Both pitchers will have a tough task on their hands. The Blue Jays rank No. 1 in runs scored and the Yankees are No. 2, but Toronto leads New York by 79 runs and boasts a much more threatening lineup with AL MVP candidate Josh Donaldson (leads MLB in RBIs) and the recently acquired Troy Tulowitzki.
Both clubs just dropped two out of three to AL East opponents, but all bets are off as the Blue Jays look to maintain their 1.5 game division lead over the Yankees. New York hopes to capitalize on this four-game set and will look toward Chase Headley (.500 career average against Price), Brian McCann (.435 average) and Jacoby Ellsbury (.333 average) to kick the series off in their favor.
