Frank Lampard Takes Up Writing As Chelsea Contract Comes To An End

Frank Lampard takes to writing children books as his contract with Chelsea Football Club comes to an end this June and he hasn't been offered a new one yet.

Reading and soccer are two things that are "essential" in his home, reveals English midfielder Lampard. With his contract with Chelsea coming to an end and not being offered a new one yet, Lampard has taken up writing which could turn into a full time career for the footballer, if all goes well.

The Bookseller reports that the sportsman has signed a deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and will be writing a five book series for children. The series has been titled "Frankie's Magic Football" and the first book, "Frankie versus the Pirate Pillagers," is scheduled for a June 2013 release. Two more books from the series will be released sometime this year while the other two will be released early next year.

"Sport and reading are two essentials for us at home, so I decided to make up my own football stories and adventures," the Chelsea player revealed in a statement. Lampard is considered one of the most intelligent football players with an IQ of 150, which makes him one among the top 0.1% of people in Great Britain with such a high IQ level.

Though Lampard has not been offered a renewal of contract yet, he hopes to add silverware to what could be his last few months with Chelsea. The club has a tough week in front of them with Thursday's first leg of the Europa League taking place followed by a FA Cup fourth-round replay with Brentford on Sunday.

These are the only two trophies the club can win this year. Currently, the club trails arch rivals Manchester United by 16 points in the English Premier League.

"At the minute the season hasn't been successful," Lampard told Chelsea TV. "We should be challenging for titles rather than third or fourth, but we're not. And we've not won some cups, we've been knocked out. We have to grab the fact that there's a lot of games to play and we have to try to win something."
