Thibaut Courtois has suffered a knee injury that will sideline him until at least December, according to ESPN FC. The injury could not have come at a worse time for Chelsea, as the club continues to push for Premier League and Champions League titles.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho spoke to the media on Friday, confirming the injury.
"Courtois was injured in a training session with the goalkeepers and I cannot tell you much, but I can tell you that he needs surgery in his right knee. As a consequence of that he will be out for quite a long time. I cannot be at this moment more specific about the injury or the time he will be out," stated Mourinho.
While Chelsea fans are now wondering what is in store for them going forward, Arsenal fans wasted no time letting the Blues know they now hold Petr Cech, according to The Mirror. Cech was the only transfer made by Arsenal over the summer, and fans of the Gunners now believe that they got the better end of the deal.
Courtois going down will impact the next three months of Premier League action for Chelsea and even some of their Champions League play. Without an elite goalkeeper between the sticks for the Blues, there may be some major upsets happening across Europe.
