A Goldman Sachs investment banker accused of rape at a Hamptons summer home will be arraigned on Friday, NBC News reported.
Jason Lee, 37, of Manhattan was arrested on Aug. 20 -- his birthday -- at a home in East Hampton that he and his wife rented. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Barbara Kahn at 9:30 a.m. on Friday in Suffolk County Criminal Court.
Prosecutors say a 20-year-old woman met him at a nightclub. Lee allegedly invited the woman, her brother, and her friends back to his rental after buying them drinks that night.
Once they arrived at the home, Lee followed the woman into the bathroom, naked, she told investigators. She tried to close the door on Lee but he forced his way in and eventually pinned her down and began to rape her.
According to prosecutors, the woman kneed him in the groin to escape.
Lee has plead not guilty to the accusations and is free on bail after posting $20,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The Goldman Sachs banker is currently on leave from his job in the equity capital markets department. His lawyer said he plans to fight the charges against him and called the case a "huge travesty" and an "injustice."
Risa Heller, a spokesman for Lee, said the "very accomplished" banker "adamantly" denies the charges, as does his wife. Heller is a publicist who has worked with several New York politicians including former U.S. Congressman and New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, former New York Governor David Paterson and U.S. Senator Charles Schumer.
After the arraignment, District Attorney Spota will announce brief remarks on the trial and will respond to questions from reporters.
