Kelly Clarkson had no choice but to cancel some of her upcoming tour dates. The 33-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce the news, explaining why it had to be done.
"So bummed that I have to cancel some of my tour dates," she wrote. "This kills me, but doctors are saying I need to rest my voice."
Attached to the tweet was a photo of six different September tour dates for the "Piece by Piece" tour. "The following tour dates have unfortunately been cancelled," it said. The affected dates are from Sept. 12 to Sept. 20 and include two shows in Vienna, Va., two in Florida, one in North Carolina and one in New Jersey. All tickets for these shows will be refunded at the original point of purchase.
Clarkson then went on to apologize to her fans, making sure they knew that she would never cancel something unless it was "absolutely necessary." "I can't wait to get healthy and see y'all back on the road soon. I hate canceling..." she tweeted shortly after, adding, "and I am truly sorry to my fans that have been excited to see this show." Back in June, Clarkson had a similar scare after giving birth to her daughter River Rose, according to Entertainment Tonight. At the time, she thought she had lost her voice for good and that she would have to end her singing career. This voice loss ended up being temporary, and she started the "Piece by Piece" tour in July. It was expected to run until November, so hopefully she will be able to recover and continue on with the tour after this short break.
Clarkson has been making headlines with this tour as she continues to perform these incredible covers of other artists songs. She's covered everyone from Taylor Swift, to Nick Jonas, to Rihanna. Just last month at one of her shows, she made an amazingly emotional announcement that she was pregnant with her second baby.
