After an intense competition that kicked off with 52 gorgeous ladies from each state competing for the special crown, we finally have a winner and the Miss America 2016 pageant winner is none other than Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, according to E!.
Betty Cantrell was announced as the winner of the annual competition Sunday night. Cantrell sang an opera number for her talent performance, for which she had already won top honors during last week's preliminary competitions.
The brunette beauty was also asked to share her views on the biggest sports scandal of the year. "New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was suspended for his part in the so-called 'DeflateGate' scandal, then reinstated by the courts," Judge Brett Eldredge asked. "Legalities aside, did Tom Brady cheat?"
"Did he cheat? Um, that's a really good question. I'm not sure," Cantrell said, according to The Washington Post. "I think I'd have to be there to see the ball and feel it and make sure it was deflated or not deflated. But if there was question there, then, yes, I think he cheated. If there was any question to be had, I think that he definitely cheated, and that he should have been suspended for that. That's not fair."
Cantrell came out on top over first runner-up Miss Mississippi Hannah Roberts. Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson was the second-runner up and Miss Louisiana April Nelson came in at third place and Miss Alabama Meg McGuffin was announced as the fourth runner-up. Congratulations to all the contestants!
