Thomas Muller is the latest target for Manchester United's January bidding spree, according to Bleacher Report. United has had its eye on the German star for quite some time, and if everything works out correctly, a move in January is not as outlandish as it may sound.
Muller is the lifeblood of Munich, and the thought of the club selling him is hard to believe. When it comes to United, however, the amount of money at its disposal is incredible and hard to turn down by any club. The reported transfer fee that United has submitted for Muller is around 85 million euros. That is the kind of money that Munich could turn around and use on multiple players to fill Muller's absence.
The biggest issue with the deal is how much of a fan favorite Muller is. If Munich dared to sell him, especially to the Red Devils, there would be a massive revolt against Bayern and the organization as a whole.
Bayern is not thrilled with just how much the English clubs have to spend during the transfer season, according to Express.UK. Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated in a recent interview just how he feels about the new TV deals in England that are now helping United and others buy so many players.
"We have an incredibly big gap between paid TV in England and paid TV in Germany," he said. "So, that is a big, big problem in the transfer market, because the English clubs have so much money available in that market that it is not easy to defend. We keep our best players here in Bayern Munich like Thomas Muller or players from Real Madrid like Sergio Ramos because they have big requests from England, so it is very difficult to keep them."
January is only a few months away, however; if Muller is interested in both the money and playing for a new team, it is going to be hard for Munich to keep their star man.
