Ben Carson: New Hampshire Polls Show Marked Improvement

Ben Carson is getting closer to Donald Trump in New Hampshire polls, according to CNN. Carson is in second place in the recent poll, leading more than a dozen other candidates hoping to win the Republican primary election.

Trump is still in the lead, polling at 28 percent in New Hampshire, with Carson earning 17 percent of the vote. John Kasich, former Ohio governor, is polling at 11 percent. Sen. Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Gov. Jeb Bush at are 8 and 7 percent. Six other candidates fell below the 1 percent mark.

The Monmouth University poll shows that Carson has risen 12 points since a July survey of candidates, according USA Today -- a marked improvement. Carson has gained ground in the polls since the first Republican primary debate.

Neither Carson nor Trump has ever held political office, according to IBT. Trump is well-known as a real estate mogul and reality TV personality. Carson is a retired neurosurgeon.

As candidates polling in the top 10, both Carson and Trump will be on the main stage during CNN's Republican debate on Wednesday. The other Republican primary candidates who are not polling in the top 10 will take part in a pre-debate that will air before the main event.
