It's National Cheese Toast Day on Sept. 15 and while Sizzler is giving away free servings of its famous cheese toasts at its restaurants to commemorate the day, according to The Daily Meal, you can create a batch of the same cheesy goodness in your own kitchen.
To enjoy cheese toasts better, consider using a thick bread loaf so that it doesn't get soggy when buttered and grilled, according to The Guardian. Others prefer to slice their cheese instead of grating, while others mix up their cheese choices by putting cheddar, parmesan and other variants.
Here's the recipe for a basic Sizzler's Cheese Toast, as created by Top Secret Recipes.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons butter
4 slices thick-sliced French bread
4 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese
Procedure. Heat up the grill, pan or griddle and leave it to do the next steps. Melt the butter in the microwave, then using a brush, spread this evenly on one side of the bread's surface. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on the buttered side. Place the bread's buttered side over the grill, pan or griddle and cook in medium to low heat for a few minutes. It'll be ready to serve when it is golden brown.
Take note that for the whole of September, Sizzler is also giving away prizes to its diners, according to the Cheese Toast website.
